Advancement Intern (Part-Time, Unpaid)
The Advancement Office is seeking a part-time intern to work with the Advancement Team. This internship is a 6-10 hour a week unpaid position with a flexible schedule. Students will gain experience in a non-profit arts organization specifically with fundraising initiatives including grants, individual giving, corporate sponsorships, special events and membership by assisting with day-to-day operations and special projects. The Advancement Office also oversees the Museum’s retail operations, which include the museum store and food amenities, and facility rental program.Candidates must be detail oriented, reliable, with excellent writing skills. This position will include some orientation into strategic plan.
General office duties including data entry, scanning and filing.
Assisting with fundraising activities such as editing and processing direct mail appeals, responding to inquiries and communications.
Assisting at Museum events such as Art on Tap, cultivation events, music concerts, etc.
Researching new funding opportunities and membership/fundraising trends.
Working with museum store manager in analyzing store sales data.
Working with events manager in coordination of facility rental program and special events.
Working with Director of Advancement on special projects and strategic initiatives, other duties as assigned.
The Director of Advancement will supervise the intern position. Working closely under her direction, the student will identify priorities and scope of responsibilities and work cooperatively with all staff and volunteers to accomplish tasks. Additionally, student may interact with the general public on occasion. Marketing & Communications Intern (Part-Time, Unpaid)
The Westmoreland Museum of American Art is seeking a part-time intern for the Marketing & Public Relations Department for Spring 2018. This internship is a minimum 10-12 hour a week unpaid position. The intern will gain experience in a non-profit arts organization by assisting with day-to-day operations in the Marketing & Public Relations Department.
Assisting the Director of Marketing & Public Relations and the Manager of Communications, the intern will perform a variety of duties including but not limited to:
assisting with creation of press releases and any printed/electronic materials, such as newsletters, brochures, postcards, eNewsletters, eBlasts, etc.
entering the Museums’ events and exhibitions on event websites, including local travel and tourism sites, newspaper sites, arts news sites, etc., and researching new online event listing opportunities
researching current social media trends
coordinating grass roots marketing efforts
assisting at events such as Art on Tap, and/or other special events and programs
attending departmental and organization-wide meetings when available
general office duties such as data entry, coordination of mailings, etc.
performing other Marketing & Communications duties and special projects as assigned
photography and/or video recording/production experience is a plus

The Westmoreland is accepting proposals for Pop-Up Exhibitions, which are held in the Robertshaw Gallery (adjacent to the lobby on the 1st floor). Artists working in all media will be considered. Site-specific installations are welcome. Guidelines for submitting proposals are available on Submittable.
Musicians, Bands, and Performing Artists!
Calling all musicians, bands, and all those with musical talent! The Westmoreland Museum of American Art is offering open performance spaces to musicians for rehearsal or jam session on Wednesday evenings from 5-7pm from July through October 2019. Calling All Writers for Analog Scroll Opportunity!
The Westmoreland Museum of American Art is seeking to commission four writers from southwestern Pennsylvania to propose site-specific text to be added to the public art project Analog Scroll on the North Main Street Bridge in Greensburg over the course of the next four years. Each selected writer will be commissioned to write an original, site-specific poem/text for the bridge that will be on-site for a one-year period.
